Maharishi School, Suffolk
In September 2014 a new state funded Maharishi Free School for ages 11-16 is proposed to be opening in Rendlesham, Suffolk. The school will follow the successful model of the Maharishi Free School in Lancashire. The school in Suffolk is for 11-16 year olds, one form per year with class sizes of 24.
For over twenty five years the Maharishi School in Lancashire, a non-selective independent school, offered Consciousness-based Education, which includes the twice daily practice of Transcendental Meditation, as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The purpose of Consciousness-based Education is to develop the full potential of every student -which includes their senses, mind, intellect and emotions.
CONSCIOUSNESS-BASED EDUCATION WITH GREAT ACADEMIC RESULTS AND HAPPY CHILDREN
The school’s GCSE results, often the top in Lancashire have also been in the top 2.5% nationally. In its most recent Ofsted report in 2009 it was found to be outstanding in eleven areas and outstanding overall. In September 2011 The Maharishi School Trust was one of the first schools to gain Free School status. The aim of Maharishi School is to provide a complete education by integrating the highest quality of traditional education with the development of greater balance and harmony in all areas of the pupils’ life.
