SALTERS’ FESTIVALS OF CHEMISTRY

 

2004: 46 Festivals were held in 2004 with students from all over the UK & Ireland travelling to their

local university to enjoy a fun day of practical Chemistry. Teams from over 700 schools participated

in the Festivals. A team of 4 pupils from the Maharishi School in Years 7 and 8 participated

and came first in the University Challenge competition.

 

UK JUNIOR MATHS CHALLENGE (Aimed at Year 7 & 8 pupils)

(241 612 entries nationally. Gold certificates are awarded to the top 6%, Silver 7-14% and Bronze

15-20%.) Year 8 — Silver: Ruth Ingram & Molly Deary / Bronze: Freddie Fuller.

Year 7 — Silver: Jed O’Connor & Jonathon Jedrczak / Bronze: Jennifer White.

Achievements 2

 

Experienced educators have commented on the high standard of work produced in the school. Her Majesty's Inspectors of Schools (HMI), on behalf of OFSTED, have commented favourably on all aspects of the school; in particular, the quality of the tasks presented to the pupils by the teachers, the pupils' maturity and level of expression, and the expectation of high standards based upon the sound principles of the school.

Foyles Young Poets of the Year Award 2007

 

The latest in a long line of Maharishi School students to be a winner in this competition, Emily Mercer was one of the 15 winners (out of an entrance of 10,000) for 2007.

‘All Write’ competition 2007

Alice Renwick and Ruby Lees (yr11) and Lillah Kennedy, Jenny Hayward and Francis King-Smith from yr 11 2006 won awards.
