UK INTERMEDIATE MATHEMATICAL CHALLENGE (aimed at pupils in Years 9, 10 and 11)

 

February 2007: Maharishi School Maths Successes

In this year's National UK Intermediate Maths Challenge, the Maharishi School students excelled more than ever before: 2 Golds, 3 Silvers & 3 Bronze awards. Dakshina Scott (Year 11) and Paul Evans (Year 11) will both receive Gold Certificates. Lillah Kennedy (Year 11), Rebecca Broome (Year 11) and Arthur Mercer (Year 10) will receive Silver Certificates. Jennifer Hayward (Year 11), Alice Renwick (Year 10) and Kit Harding (Year 11) will receive Bronze Certificates.

Congratulations to them all!

 

But to top even this, Dakshina Scott scored so highly that she has been invited (it's by invitation only!) to attend the next round of competitions. This is a European-wide (25 countries), one-hour exam, scheduled for the 15th March. It's called the 'Pink Kangaroo' and is designed to challenge

even the brightest Maths students from Year 10 and 11.

It is difficult for most adults to appreciate the levels of Mathematical ability that all these students have demonstrated.
