The purpose of the infant and junior curriculum is to create
the stable foundation for all future learning and educational
success.
This
curriculum is designed to enliven the children's experience
of inner happiness and self-confidence, enrich their imagination
and pro vide
varied opportunities for positive social interaction.
The
teachers carefully select those learning materials and activities
that refine and enliven the five senses in the context of
a rich curriculum.
A
special emphasis is on the establishment of the tender bond
between the teachers and children which nourishes the young
children in their first school experience. On this basis the
child’s receptivity to learning is established.
The
goal of the curriculum in the early years is to open the child’s
awareness to the inner, more precious values of life. This
is done by introducing the children to the patterns of orderliness
around them by broadening their awareness of the world. With
the growth of this awareness the children are more able to
appreciate orderliness everywhere, both inside themselves
and in the world around them.
While
the children are growing in their abilities and understanding
they are also able to appreciate their value as members of
the school community and of the wider local community. This
appreciation provides a secure and firm foundation for all
future growth and learning.
